A new Tool for High Performance CFD: Lattice Boltzmann Automata

چکیده

The lattice Boltzmann (LB) method is a new and highly efficient numerical method in the area of high performance computational fluid dynamics. The lattice Boltzmann implementation BEST, a joint development of the Institute of Fluid Mechanics (LSTM) / University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and the C&C Research Laboratories (CCRLE) St. Augustin / NEC Europe Ltd. proved to be a promising tool for challenging engineering applications in the area of flow in complex geometries such as species transport inside porous media or automobile aerodynamics. In this paper, the basic idea behind the LB technique as well as some implementation and performance aspects on high performance parallel computers are presented.
